Origami Cranes

Last Friday was Xenia's birthday so I had the task in thinking about what I should about a present. I decided I wanted to make something to make the present just that little more personal which of course led to the origami crane that I made.

Back in the summer of last year, I was waiting on some packages from Amazon. I kept getting really impatient so I decided to pass the time I would try and learn how to do origami [it sounds so lame now, but I honestly was bored out of mind]. I've always been fascinated with origami anyway as my Grandad always used to try and teach me whenever I went round my grandparents...but that was never successful  I found a tutorial on YouTube which I'll link to here which helped me along the path to successfully making one.

That little anecdote is what lead me to this present. Xenia wanted a nice floral, vintage pattern for the crane so I just found a pattern off of Google images and printed it onto both sides of A4 printing paper. I didn't want to just give her a crane though, I wanted to make it a little more special. I took a trip down to Accessorize and picked out some nice little pieces of jewelry that looked vintagy and that went with the crane itself.

And the photos above show the final product! I think it came out really well, I was scared I would screw it up somehow. But, Xenia really liked it so that's all I needed to know that it turned out okay.

I have another post planned for sometime this week, I'll probably be doing a birthday haul seeing as I finally turned seventeen yesterday. I still don't feel like I have though.

I hope you all have beautiful weather like we do down where I live and that you enjoy this afternoon!

  2. Aww, thank you! I should warn you though, once you've made one it gets overly addictive. Although, they do make for some really nice decorations for your room.
